Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) has unveiled plans to invest $170 billion in Europe by 2030, supported by the opening of a new office in Paris. The French capital becomes the fund’s fourth international hub after New York, London, and Hong Kong, serving as a new gateway to connect Saudi investors with European opportunities.
The move aligns with Vision 2030, the Kingdom’s ambitious economic reform agenda aimed at diversifying state revenues and positioning the PIF among the world’s most powerful sovereign wealth funds. As of today, the fund manages $925 billion in assets, with a target to surpass the $1 trillion mark by 2025.
Although the PIF intends to reduce the share of international holdings from 30% to 20%, it continues to invest heavily abroad, focusing on strategic sectors aligned with its long-term priorities: green hydrogen, electric mobility, clean energy, and emerging technologies. Europe is seen as a key partner in this transition, and the Paris office is set to streamline direct engagement with governments, startups, and institutional investors.
In recent years, the fund has launched major co-investment platforms, including a $2 billion Middle East infrastructure fund with Brookfield Asset Management, and MoUs worth over $50 billion with Japanese financial institutions in 2023.
For Italian companies, the PIF’s growing footprint in Europe opens tangible business opportunities. The new Paris office will act as a direct channel for dialogue with industrial and tech partners ready to transfer know-how to the Kingdom. As Saudi Arabia accelerates its energy and infrastructure transformation, presenting scalable solutions, international vision, and concrete proposals is essential to gain access to an ecosystem increasingly open to global collaboration.
