Dubai is staking its claim in the US$200 billion global gaming industry with the Dubai Program for Gaming 2033, a comprehensive strategy overseen by the Dubai Future Foundation. The program aims to position the emirate among the world’s top 10 gaming hubs by the next decade, creating an environment where innovation and entrepreneurship in gaming can thrive.

Launched in 2023, the initiative encompasses more than 25 dedicated projects to support game developers, designers, and programmers. These include incubators, accelerators, training platforms, and partnerships with global gaming leaders. Since its inception, the program has already produced tangible results: Dubai has seen a 17 percent increase in new gaming companies, ranging from agile start-ups to established global players.

The strategy is also designed to nurture local talent, offering pathways for Emirati youth and regional creatives to enter one of the fastest-growing digital sectors. By developing skills in areas such as immersive storytelling, esports, and game design, Dubai is aligning its workforce with the demands of a rapidly evolving industry.

The broader vision reflects Dubai’s ambition to diversify its economy through technology and digital content creation. With esports audiences expected to surpass 640 million worldwide by 2025 and gaming revenues projected to continue their rapid growth, the city sees the sector as both a cultural and economic catalyst.

By embedding gaming into its future economy agenda, Dubai is also looking to attract international studios, investors, and platforms, creating an integrated ecosystem where content can be created, published, and exported globally. The emirate’s regulatory clarity, advanced digital infrastructure, and business-friendly environment give it a competitive advantage over many established markets.

As the global gaming industry evolves into a mainstream driver of innovation and entertainment, Dubai’s early positioning ensures it will not just participate but lead. The momentum gained since 2023 signals that the city is already on track to becoming a major global hub, highlighting the vast potential of gaming as a cornerstone of the digital economy in the years ahead.
